Sometimes all a person needs is a little self-confidence, the support of loved ones and a competent specialist who will help get out of a problematic situation. Every story that is born within the walls of our clinic is unique, as are the couples who seek help from ISIDA. All of them have faced certain difficulties in their life and often experience so much pain that it is our duty and the highest reward to help them realize their main dream, to help them become parents. At the beginning of 2018, our patient Marta and her partner Pavel had long-awaited twins – it was not an easy path, but they went through all the obstacles and are ready to share their story with others:
Dear Martha, first of all, let me congratulate you on the first months of motherhood! Caring for twins must be quite tiring, so how do you cope with everything?
It took a long time before we learned how to keep everything under control, caring for twins is really very difficult. We sometimes wonder how “easy” it should be to raise only one child…
Of course, being a mother is not an easy job, but it is very happy 🙂 So, shall we start from the beginning? Tell us why you decided on IVF?
Our story is not quite ordinary. After learning that we need IVF to give birth to a child, we did not get upset… We were sure that with the help of a good specialist from a high-tech clinic, we would have a child after the first or second cycle, and we would use the remaining frozen embryos when we were ready to replenish the family again… We thought it was that simple. First, nine follicles grew, from which 4 eggs were subsequently obtained. Since then, luck has left us – only one embryo was fertilized, but of poor quality, so we hurried to the second day of embryo transfer. We calmly accepted that after 14 days our pregnancy test turned out to be negative. The second, third and fourth cycles of IVF were no different, despite the different protocols and clinics. We could have continued the treatment, but we wanted to see at least some improvements first. One thing was clear for sure – the main problem was the quality of the eggs. Therefore, we decided on IVF with donation of oocytes. We were sure that a lot of perfect blastocysts would come out of high-quality eggs. Unfortunately, it wasn’t that simple. We felt cheated.
It’s hard to imagine how hard it must have been for you then. Have you considered other solutions to the problem?
Yes, we started considering adoption, and one day our friend said to us, “Why don’t you do like Madonna?” It made us think outside the box. We studied all the options and came up with a universal way to solve all our problems. If not IVF, then surrogacy. And that’s how we ended up in Ukraine – an ideal place to solve problems related to infertility treatment on legal grounds.
Weren’t you afraid to go to Ukraine?
Actually, no. So far we are not near the war-affected regions. People asked us about the radioactive radiation from the Chernobyl disaster, the cost of treatment and the possibility of bribery. It is useless to try to avoid such questions. Conduct your own investigation to understand that you have nothing to worry about. We were absolutely confident in our decision.
Why did you decide to choose the ISIDA clinic for treatment?
First of all, the ISIDA IVF clinic is clean and well equipped. Its peculiarity lies in the fact that it functions as a hospital, where they deal with problems from conception to childbirth. You can get a full body scan and pass all the necessary tests without leaving the building, which is somewhat reminiscent of an exclusive hotel. There are no secrets about the cost of treatment and tests, everything is at a reasonable price, you will definitely receive an invoice for all services. The list of tests in Ukraine is longer than in other countries, and sometimes there are doubts about their necessity. The main thing is not to hesitate to ask about it, you will always be happy to explain how this or that analysis is related to your treatment. All the staff are very friendly and professional. We felt that we were being looked after in the best possible way.
What about the treatment process itself? What are your impressions?
We were assigned Yulia as our coordinator, and Alina as our attending physician. We had some disagreements, but we felt that we were being listened to and given the opportunity to take part in the decision-making process. There is something so special about Dr. Alina – you can’t not trust her. She is open and honest, gives the impression of a person who is passionate about her work, who always behaves professionally, even if things do not go as planned. This was our 6th IVF cycle, the second one with donor eggs, and it turned out to be successful. At the beginning of 2018, our twins were born – a boy and a girl. We do not have enough words to express our gratitude to Yulia and Dr. Alina. Therefore, we keep in touch with them by sending photos of our children periodically.
Would you like to finally say something to those people who are also faced with the problem of infertility treatment?
To be short and clear: we highly recommend that they seek help from the ISIDA Clinic!
Dear Marta and Pavel! Thank you so much for your trust in ISIDA and the opportunity to realize your most important dream! We sincerely hope that your wonderful children will light up your life with such joy and happiness that one day this light will extinguish all painful memories associated with your difficult path to parenthood. And we believe that this inspiring story will help other couples never give up their cherished dreams and continue to confidently move forward only 🙂
