The head of the infertility treatment department, reproductologist Svetlana Shiyanova became a participant of the Workshop in one of the best European reproductive clinics – “Repromeda” (“Repromeda” in Brno, Czech Republic). The purpose of this event was to familiarize with the principles of the clinic and advanced IVF programs used in it.
During the 3-day visit, Svetlana Shiyanova had the opportunity to get acquainted in detail with the principles of the Czech clinic, starting from the organization of the treatment process and ending with the details of the embryological and genetic stages of IVF cycles.
The Reproductive Health and Preimplantation Genetic Diagnostics Clinic “Repromeda” is one of the best European clinics specializing in IVF programs using all types of modern preimplantation genetic diagnostics of embryos. These are PGS (preimplantation genetic screening) and PGD (preimplantation genetic diagnosis) by NGS, as well as the latest hypersensitive diagnosis – Karyomapping, which is universal for all monogenic diseases.
Preimplantation genetic diagnosis by Karyomapping was introduced at the Repromeda clinic in early 2014. It was the first laboratory that started to carry out such research in Europe.
“The potential and specificity of the genetic laboratory of the Repromeda clinic allows us to conduct research not only for Czech medical centers,” Svetlana Shiyanova shares her impressions. – A special impression was made by Professor Pavel Travnik, who is one of the embryologists of the team that worked on IVF, as a result of which the first child was born in Czechoslovakia (1982). The professor presented his approaches to the organization and quality control of the embryolaboratory. In addition, during a personal conversation, there was an opportunity for mutual exchange of experience and discussion of modern approaches in the embryological part of IVF programs.”
