Embryologist Irina Zakharova completed a training course at ORIGIO, Denmark

On March 28-29, 2017, embryologist Irina Zakharova completed a training course at ORIGIO, Malov, Denmark.

“As an embryologist, it was very interesting and informative for me to visit the very “heart” of the production of media that you work with every day, to see firsthand the highest level of quality control, to be trained in some techniques, and also to make sure once again that the level of work of the ISIDA clinic really meets international standards,” he shares his impressions Dr. Zakharova.

The workshop at ORIGIO was dedicated to biopsy techniques at different stages of embryo development. The leading specialists of ORIGIO gave the participants of the seminar the necessary theoretical information about the biopsy of the polar body, demonstrated this technique in practical classes, taught those present to perform a biopsy on their own.

Analysis of the genetic material of the polar body allows you to indirectly assess the genetic health of the egg. For many countries, due to strict legislative regulation, this is the only option for genetic diagnosis of the embryo.

In addition, the seminar at ORIGIO examined the nuances of the technique of blastomere biopsy on the third day of embryo crushing. The training courses at ORIGIO are characterized by very good conditions: all participants of the seminar had the opportunity to test their ability to accurately perform this manipulation in practice.

It should be noted that genetic diagnostics on one blastomer can be performed by the FISH method on a different number of chromosomes, depending on the indications. This method is easily implemented by the ISIDA genetic laboratory. However, this technique allows you to analyze a limited number of chromosomes, so it is not always the optimal diagnostic method.

Therefore, the ISIDA clinic is actively implementing the technique of biopsy of trophoblast cells on the fifth day of embryo development.
We obtain trophoblast cells for the highest-level preimplantation diagnostics by NGS (new generation sequencing). Separation of 4-7 trophoblast cells does not cause much damage to the embryo. The purpose of this method is to get a healthy pregnancy and a healthy baby. – says Dr. Zakharova. – Preimplantation diagnosis of the highest level by the NGS method is carried out only on a formed blastocyst of good quality. All about biopsied embryos are frozen and if the analysis shows that these embryos are genetically healthy, a woman gets a very high chance of getting pregnant and giving birth to a healthy child. Seminars like the one held in Denmark give embryologists the opportunity to gain new knowledge, improve their skills and communicate with colleagues from laboratories around the world.”

For a number of years, ORIGIO has been regularly conducting trainings for embryologists in a specially equipped laboratory equipped with everything necessary for practical training in all basic ART techniques. ORIGIO teachers are experienced embryologists with extensive practical experience, as well as invited experts-specialists in such fields as biopsy, andrology, cryopreservation.

Biologist Irina Zakharova has 13 years of experience, is a member of the Ukrainian Union of Embryologists. The doctor regularly participates in seminars on clinical embryology, attended the III World Congress of the International Organization for Cryopreservation and Storage of Bioreproductive Material, participated in a workshop on cryopreservation methods.

Continuous professional development of all doctors is one of the highest priorities in the strategic development of the ISIDA clinic, as well as a guarantee that a woman dreaming of pregnancy will receive access to the most modern reproductive technologies at the ISIDA clinic.
