News about pregnancy - the biggest joy for us!
Irina Zakharova, embryologist, biologist:
We are responsible for the most subtle process: having obtained gametes, we make them meet, and then we thoroughly cultivate the embryos in a special artificial environment. Not all egg cells are perfectly equal. Sometimes the male factor also happens to be complicated. However, if fertilization happens and the cells begin to properly divide, we see a potential for the future pregnancy.
Our next task is, in accordance with distinct parameters, to choose embryos for transfer. A part of those left can be vitrified (immediately frozen according to the most up-to-date technology) to be used in cryocycles.
Of course the biggest joy for the whole staff is the news that the embryo has been successfully implanted. To improve the results, much attention is attached to the retrospective analysis. We accumulate knowledge about the effectiveness of the embryo transfer at a certain stage of development, about the impact of medical protocols and other factors – all these issues are thoroughly recorded. We do our best for the germ of a new life!
