Alina Palamarchuk, an OB-GYN or obstetrician-gynecologist anda fertility specialist, shared her impressions about participation in ESHRE Meeting.
Alina Nikolaevna, what opportunities do such events offer to a general practitioner?
ESHRE Meeting is held annually. This is certainly one of the most significant events in the world of reproductive medicine. Traditionally, the best specialists almost from all over the world accept an invitation to take part in the meeting. The ESHRE Meeting provides a unique opportunity to receive valuable first-hand information either from speakers who develop a particular technology, or from general practitioners who already have an experience of using techniques that were considered revolutionary one or two years ago.
What personal professional request did you have going to ESHRE?
The unique feature of ESHRE Meeting is that due to its scaleit gives an opportunity to each participant of the event to have answers for their “hottest” professional questions. Personally I’mkeenonone of the main problems of female fertilitythat is low ovarian reserve. Therefore, the reports on the latest methods of in vitro activation of ovarian tissue for patients with a reduced reserve were very interesting for me as well as a brilliant overview of mitochondrial transfers as a possible way of improving the quality of oocytes. In my opinion, the launch of such methods will makea life of our patients much easier.
What reports did you find most interesting?
Laura Rienzi made a very interesting report devoted to the features of oocyte cryopreservation (vitrification). P. Khumaidan spoke about the specificities of luteal phase progesterone support in ART programs. Also there were heard the most interesting reports of Japanese and American specialists on restoration of low ovarian reserve (which has not been commonly applied yet).
Does ESHRE Meeting offer only reports or also personal communication with professionals?
I like this meetingvery much because absolutely different doctors from all over the world meet together and generously share their achievements and developments. The question "How is it done in your clinic?" sounds as often as a greeting. Due to this information interchange, the things, that seemed to be impossible and incomprehensible yesterday, becomereally important and useful today. Of course, it should be taken into account that there areown capabilities and peculiarities of reproductive medicine in every country. But all the doctors desire one thing that is to get welcome healthy pregnancy, without harming a woman health at the same time.
Events like ESHRE are supposed to give personal contacts, is it right? Are they useful? And what use are they?
Of course, the possibility of taking new contactsduring the meeting is a unique chance to hear a completely different points of view. The truth is born in dispute. Usually, these conversations occur in informal surrounding, so we have the opportunity to discuss everything in a friendly, detailed manner and not in a hurry. It is especially interesting to discuss questions with leading lecturers. They are very open people with huge practice, innovators and fans of reproductive medicine. Communication is so intense that the most popular lecturers can be left without coffee and dinner, answering numerous questions.
Does a participation in the events like ESHRE Meeting in Geneva lead to changes in ISIDA medical practice?
The ISIDA clinic was always different by applying all the most advanced knowledge and skills in its work. Therefore, our specialists have equalknowledge with colleagues from other countries at such events not only when they receive new information but also when they share their experience. Coming back from seminars and congresses is always followed by collective discussions of innovations brought from meetings at Isida clinic. It is also considered launching all innovations into daily practice in order that our patients may have a chance to become happy parents.
